Hello and Happy Holidays!
Christmas is less than 2 weeks away and I cannot wait! I'm going to Hawaii for Christmas and I leave in one day. I know what your thinking...Beautiful weather, palm trees, and a nice tan, right? Yea, didn't think so! I know the only thing you're wondering is what is going to happen to Simba!? It's allll about Sims, remember? As much as I wish I could take him along, that is clearly NOT going to happen. Can you imagine...Simba on a airplane?? That would scar him for life. I don't know why people take their pets with them, is that even safe for them? Keeping them locked up in a cage for hours is so cruel. Instead of taking him with me, my roommate Allie (who adopted Simba with me) will take him home. I know he's really unhappy about that and would rather stay with me because he loves me so much more, but he will have to go. Allie loves Sims just as much as I do. It can get a little crazy listening to us talk about him. The songs we sing about his orangeness are really quite hysterical. ♫ "Who's that orange man, that is Simba..." ♫ OK, I think you get the gist of it.
On another note, Allie had me for secret santa and guess what she got me.. You know those blankets you can cut and tie from Joanne's Fabrics? Well, she made me one and guess what's on the blanket?CATS! There are actually more types of cats than I realized. Just because all cats have similar looks doesn't make them the same breed. There are Persian, Maine Coon, Siamese, Blue, Calico, Tabby (Simba) and many more! I love the blanket, it keeps me and Simba warm when we snuggle, watch Christmas movies, and drink hot cocoa :)
Hope you have a Purrrrfect Holiday!
Hakuna Matata!
They can't say what they feel or stand up for what is right. They can't speak for themselves or say "no". They can however, keep you company all day and snuggle with you all night. And all they want in return is to be loved unconditionally. Because they are not just animals... they are your pet, your very best friend.

What a Unique Purrrrsonality!
Hello My Fellow Animal Lovers!
In my last post I told you that I haven't seen the other stray cat in a while, but I actually saw her at our neighbors house with her owners :) I was hoping she lived at my neighbors. Later that night it was raining out and Simba escaped outside. You would think he would hate water like a normal cat, but he is not your stereotypical cat! I went outside and shook his food so he would get back inside and guess who came... the other cat! She came running up the steps and was soaking wet. I put out a bowl of food for her, but she wouldn't eat it. She is the friendliest little kitty, but is a bit skittish at times. She usually won't stay in our house too long...

She's such a pretty Calico kitty!
She is the complete opposite of Sims, Simba is very flamboyant and overt. He will make sure you know what he wants. Even though he can be a brat, his purrsonality is why I love him so much! And for those of you who think cats can't have a personality, well you're wrong! They have many different traits...
Happy, sad, angry, and even lazy...
Check back soon :)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye Ode to King Simba!
Hello My Fellow Animal Lovers! :)
Sorry it's been quite sometime since I last wrote about King Simba. Speaking of 'king' you probably won't be surprised when I tell you that Simba's food and water bowls say 'king' on them.
Simba is doing excellent! Still being mischievous as ever, but I love it. Last week my roommate ordered Kabuki (best sushi in town). When she got back to the house with her take-out, we we sat down to watch some TV and we hear Simba scuffling with the paper take-out bag (looking for something to play with... per usual)
Well, he got himself into a predicament because while he was being feisty, the bag handle got stuck around his neck! When he tried walking to get the bag off, the bag would just follow him. lol He is seriously a circus cat.
So in my previous posts I told you about the stray cat that came to our door every once in a while. She hasn't been back in a few weeks and I'm worried :( I hope she has a home...Maybe she does and the owners aren't letting her out anymore since it's soo cold out...I really hope that's the case. She was the sweetest kitty. I really wish I could adopt all the animals into a loving home. I've decided once I get my own place I am adopting a dog for Sims and they are going to be best buds like Milo and Otis...

Petcentric by Purina (Play Like a Pet!)
Hello My Fellow Animal Lovers!
Last week I found a group on Facebook that I decided to follow. It is called Petcentric by Purina. They talk about what Purina is doing for animals and how we can help! It's Purrrfect for the animal lover in me. Curious cat? Check it out!
http://www.facebook.com/PetcentricbyPurina#%21/PetcentricbyPurina?v=wall
Their focus is to allow pet owners to share the love they have for their pets. They also provide information on how to keep your pets healthy with up-to-date news/gossip on cats and dogs! They have a photo contest for pets and I obviously entered Simba's photo in it. I posted his photo on the wall of the Petcentric group and over 60 people liked his photo! People commented saying that he was a handsome tabby cat! Look how popular that little fellow is, a blog AND Facebook hits! :)
On another note, I was driving the other day and I noticed the person in front of me had a bumper sticker that said..."Don't Shop, Adopt!" Looked kind of like this one below... This made me happy to see that someone else shares the same passion for animals as I do!

This isn't the photo I entered, but isn't he hilarious in this pic? Looks like a playful kitty.
The one I entered is where he is lying on the wood floor (The very photogenic cat one)

The Adventures of Simba
Hello Everyone!
Over the weekend Simba found a new spot to hang out. I caught him on top of the fridge tearing apart our newspaper ads. I grabbed the spray bottle and started spraying him in hopes he would jump down, but NO.. he decided to climb higher to try and get away!

Do you see that lil terror?!
Simba is not like other cats, as you can see in many of my blog posts. Another thing that's strange is he loves car rides! He is a curious guy and car rides really get him going. Here's a picture I took the other day of him...
"Weeeee!"
Check Back Soon!

Officer Simba!
Hi Everyone!
Halloween weekend is over and I can satisfying say that it was a complete success! Much needed time off from my busy life. Thursday I was a cat, obviously. I was a black cat though, an orange one would have looked like a tiger. All my friends laughed because it was so typical of me to be a cat!
I wanted to dress Simba up as a lil devil, just cause he is one sometimes :) But I figured that would be mean and he would hate me. So instead we made him in charge of our house where he held duties of...

Officer Simba
How adorable is he? When he is not being a frisky lil orange man, he is the most cuddly kitty ever!
Once the weekend started to wind down..Simba did not. He loves to play, his favorite game consists of him hiding behind the table and pouncing on you when you least expect it!
I caught him in action..can you spot the Simbinator?
Sneaky lil guy huh?

Okay, well I need to get back to my busy week
but I'll have more stories soon!!

Heartbreaking Stories...
Last night I was watching the TV show Hoarders on A&E. It's a show about people with the disorder, hoarding. It is an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder where people tend to collect an absurd amount of "meaningless" objects, that results in an unsafe and unhealthy living environment. It's quite disturbing to know that someone's lifestyle could be like that. After last nights episode, I will never watch this show again.
It was about this women in her late 50s living on her own, who was clearly incapable of taking care of herself. She was on the verge of being evicted from her home because of how toxic her house had become. For a woman who could not take care of herself, she owned 30 cats and I'm not exaggerating, 30! This woman was insane. She couldn't get around her own house and had to climb over piles of junk to get to any room in her house. Her cats were walking on the counters and stoves and defecating everywhere. It was completely and utterly unsanitary. Watching these animals in this kind of environment upset me so much. How could you let these poor innocent creatures live in a house that was not even close to a lovable home. One of the vets on the show made a good point. He said, "having two cats that you play with and love is acceptable, but collecting cats like you collect junk?" Oh No. This made me so mad. Professionals came in to take control of this situation and gathered all the cats to bring them to a vet to treat them for all the diseases they had contracted from living in her home. As they went around the house to gather all 30 cats, they ended up finding 12 cats that had died because of the poor living conditions. The worst part is that they actually showed this is TV. I screamed, shut off the TV. I couldn't imagine how anyone could ever let this happen. I couldn't believe they would show the cats who died on TV. It broke my heart to know that someone could be so careless to let this happen. I ran over to Simba who was sleeping on his couch and I just held him as I cried. I know this sounds pathetic, but animals are the most innocent creatures. I will never watch that show again knowing that people are so screwed up that they not only let their life become a toxic waste, but put others at the risk of disease and death.
Treat others as you would want to be treated.
